Fine Arts
Crescent City Christian School is proud to offer our students and our community, the Crescent City Christian School of Fine Arts. This is a school designed to recognize, train, enhance, and give exposure to gifts and talents in the arena of the Arts. Whether Verbal or Instrumental, whether performing or display, we want everyone to have the opportunity to develop the expressions within them and the talents with which God has gifted them.
Art
Lower School
While much of the art is accomplished in the self-contained classroom, we employ an “Encore” time when the students are instructed and assisted by teachers gifted in the different aspects of art.
Upper School
There are many opportunities throughout the day when students can choose an elective aimed at developing their artistic talents. Painting, watercolor, sculpting, pottery, architecture, photography, and drawing, are a few of the categories available to the students.
Theater
Theater, as the most collaborative performance art, includes a year long class for Upper School students that includes interpersonal communication, public speaking and debate, as well as acting in various styles of theater. The theater area also offers Lower School students the opportunity to join the Pioneer Players Drama Club, while the Upper School students are welcome to participate in the PIO Verbal Arts Team. Both groups engage in PIO TV activities, morning announcements, and school theatrical productions.
Pioneer Band
We are proud of our Pioneer Band. They perform several concerts throughout the year, play at athletic events, participate in many competitions, and will be adding a marching element to their repertoire very soon.
Heartsong (Worship Team)
Heartsong is the school’s traveling Vocal Ensemble. Made up of upper school students, it leads in chapel services and special events, and performs at area churches and other venues. The goal is for Heartsong to take a mission tour each year in different parts of the state, nation, and the world.
Lower School Fine Arts – Encore
Music
Our preK3 through 6th grade students are trained in vocal music throughout the year through our Encore program. Our vocal instructors work with the students by grade to prepare them for performances such as Grandparents day, Pastor Appreciation, Christmas Concert, and Spring Concert.
Band
Instrumental music is also a huge part of the student’s experience. We introduce instruments at age-appropriate levels and then encourage students to choose and develop the instrument in which they are most interested.
Private Lessons
The School of Fine Arts offers private lessons in most musical instruments. These lessons are offered to anyone, any age, anytime. We have many adult students, and many lessons taught in the evenings and on weekends. Please call 504-885-4700 for more information.
