Guidelines for Virtual School Enrollment

Traditional in-person schools now offer various online learning options, including online, distance learning, virtual learning, hybrid learning, Google Classrooms, and LMS. These methods aim to facilitate home-based education during the pandemic, enabling students to continue their studies remotely until they can safely return to school. Classes often follow a fixed schedule with required attendance and homework, but instruction is delivered via live streams on platforms like Zoom or Google Meet. Many schools also use a hybrid model, combining at-home and in-person learning. However, these methods, while suitable for temporary situations, are not effective for long-term use as they lack the tools, resources, and support needed for sustained home-based learning. Additionally, parents are often unprepared for the role of teacher, leading to significant challenges.

Crescent City Christian School has chosen a different approach, using the Ignitia learning platform, which is specifically designed for home education. This platform offers a biblically integrated curriculum for grades 3-12, featuring comprehensive lessons, videos, PowerPoint presentations, and access to external resources, all available in multiple languages. The program includes teacher support to ensure student success and alleviates the burden on families by keeping them in a supportive role rather than forcing them to become teachers. It also provides guidance counseling, record-keeping, state registration, and curriculum management, meeting the needs of traditional homeschoolers.
